Pretty Robin Egg Blue And Furniture Projects

I have been meaning to post how the small dresser turned out after painting it as my first project with Annie Sloans chalk paint. I had many other projects along with this one, I just wish that I would have taken more pictures!

I really love how this turned out. The robin egg blue color, Annie calls Provence. It's gorgeous. I have almost a full can left and I cannot wait to start on my next few projects for the show at the Metrolina in July.

I really love how smooth the Annie Sloan paint is to work with! The look of the paint after two coats is like fondant cake frosting! It is beautiful! It sands like a dream and polishes into a satin finish. On this dresser, I used natural Min-wax paste wax for the finishing touch.

I also used Annie Sloans "Old White" chalk paint on a vintage 1930's bed, a teacart, and two decorative mirrors from the 1920's and 1930's. Everything sold right away at the show. I was very happy about that!

I have a lot to learn about paint effects and giving pieces texture, but it sure is fun learning! ...I just found two more pieces that I need to start on soon. I will post pics! How fun :-)

I ended up painting this pretty table a wonderful rich gray and then distressed it.

Trinkets and Treasures

It has been a few days since I have posted! I have been sharing my time between adding great items to my website and painting more furniture. I really enjoy both, but wish there were more hours in the day.... I have been dying to post the vintage goodies that I found last weekend. It was beautiful weather and I had so much fun exploring. Here are a few things that I found before I ran out of money :-)

A beautiful blanket from New Zealand

A 1950's Christmas Santa pitcher and 6 matching mugs

A lovely lot of vintage and antique jewelry pieces

I couldn't resist this sheep fur owl!

Antique Christmas decorations called Gifulamps!

A wonderful box of antique Cheetah looking fur collars, an Ermine collar,
fur hats and a mink necklace!

A pretty vintage wall pocket, I believe by Roseville

See you at the next post! Please feel free to share some of your vintage finds too!

Painting With Annie Sloans Chalk Paint

Though I have been painting vintage furniture for a few months, this is my first try with Annie Sloans Chalk Paint.....I first heard about it less than two weeks ago when a women came to the Metrolina Antique and Collectibles Show. The whole time she was in my booth she couldn't stop raving about this fairly new paint, that "everyone" is using. How exciting! I had to try it!! Annie Sloans Chalk Paint is a dream to work with and comes in so many beautiful colors.

I purchased my paint and wax from Tammy Brinkley of Periwinkle Pass in Banner Elk, NC. She is lovely and sometimes brings her Annie Sloans Chalk Paints and Waxes to the Metrolina in Charlotte, once a month. Here is her website: Periwinkle Pass

You don't have to sand or prime before you paint, so it saves you a lot of time. There are extremely low VOC's and it can even be used as a light "wash". Just add water!  You can even use it on masonry, metals, plastic and more! I started out with "Provence" and "Old White". I cannot wait to try the others!

Here is my first project. It is a cute 4 drawer bedside dresser that I picked up while I was in Michigan. So far I really love the way it is turning out. This piece will be sold at the Metrolina next month, along with the other furniture pieces that I have started.
